The purpose of the proposed revisions to the policy is to ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state laws, Florida State Board of Education Rules,

Board policies, adminstrative rules, procedures, and guidelines. In additon, the proposed revisions promote transparency and accountability.

  • This proposed revision does encompass the suggested language from NEOLA.
  • This revision specifically includes new language from state statute 985.12 regarding civil citations.
Recommendation

Board Policy 5500 - Student Conduct is currently being revised and will appear before the School Board on the dates indicated below:

•    Cabinet – 11/15/2021
•    Work Session – 12/14/2021
•    Rule Development Workshop – 01/18/2022
•    School Board Meeting Information – 01/18/2022
•    School Board Meeting Approval – 02/08/2022
•    Effective Date – upon approval
