The 2014 sales surtax plan and the 2020 sales surtax renewal plan includes funding for facility renewal at Gardendale Alternative Learning Center. The scope of work includes HVAC, electrical and lighting renewal. 

Wharton Smith, Inc. has submitted a Guaranteed Maximum Price in an amount not to exceed $1,794,128 under their continuing contract for construction management services based on a design by OCI Associates, Inc. under their continuing contract for mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection engineering services.Additional administration and permitting costs are estimated at $10,000. The construction will be funded through 2014 and 2020 sales surtax allocated for facility renewal at Gardendale and capital designated for air conditioning projects. The Independent Citizens Oversight Committee previously recommended approval of an additional $200,000 allocation from the 2014 sales surtax revenue over the $198 million program target. 

Board approval is required for purchase orders over $50,000. The standard agreement template has been used which does not require legal review. 

Approve the total construction budget in the amount of $1,804,128 for the facility renewal project at Gardendale Alternative Learning Center. 

Approve the Guaranteed Maximum Price submitted by Wharton, Smith, Inc.  in an amount not to exceed $1,794,128 under their continuing contract for construction management services for the facility renewal project at Gardendale Alternative Learning Center.
