The sales surtax renewal program includes a project for structured cabling and other educational technology improvements in year 4 and an intercom project in year 3 at Saturn Elementary School. The projects are being combined since this work can be done by the same type of subcontractor.  The projects will be advanced ahead of schedule to continue the extensive facility and technology renewal efforts at Saturn Elementary. The Independent Citizens Oversight Committee has been advised of the advancement in the schedule

Wharton Smith, Inc. has submitted a preconstruction services proposal in an amount not to exceed $81,101 under their continuing contract for design build services. The proposal is based on a Design Criteria Package (DCP) prepared by District staff. Administration and permitting costs are estimated at $5,000. Preconstruction services include design, subcontractor bidding and development of the Guaranteed Maximum Price. 

The project will be managed through Educational Technology in collaboration with Facilities Services. 

Board approval is required for purchase orders over $50,000. The standard form of the agreement has been used which does not require legal review. 

Approve the preconstruction services budget in the amount of $86,101 for the Saturn Elementary structured cabling,educational technology and intercom renewal project.

Approve the preconstruction services proposal submitted by Wharton Smith, Inc. in an amount not to exceed $81,101 under their continuing contract for design build services for the Saturn Elementary structured cabling,educational technology and intercom renewal project.
