Brevard County is replacing the public lift station (designated as N13) located on the Mims Elementary School property.  The current lift station is approaching the end of its life cycle and needs to be updated.  The lift station is currently located near the southwest corner of the Mims Elementary School property.  With the replacement and upgrade of the lift station, Brevard County will be adding a small driveway, fencing and gates, along with other associated equipment needed for the operation and maintenance of the lift station.  The underground public sewer lines will be constructed to connect to the new lift station. 

The Brevard County project is being done with no cost to the school district.  In order to promote efficient access to the lift station and give the County permissions to construct and maintain the new lift station, this proposal will deed a small parcel to the county and provide a utility easement over the underground sewer pipes that are located on school property along Broadway Avenue.  The lift station parcel is approximately 34 ft. by 29 ft. for the lift station and equipment plus a 25 ft. long by 12 ft. wide driveway connecting the parcel to Broadway Avenue.  With the new school security measures along with potential liability, staff believes that deeding this small parcel to the County is more efficient than the current situation with just an easement.  Additionally, since the sewer pipes are already located on school property, a utility easement provides the County the ability to maintain that infrastructure.

Approve the transfer of property used for the N13 public lift station and associated equipment.

Approve the utility easement over the existing sewer lines connecting to the lift station.
