The Sales Surtax Detail Funded Report (Attachment F) for Lockmar Elementary School did not include resources for chiller replacement. At the time the project scope was developed for the project the need for the chiller work had not been identified. However, the central energy plant subsequently experienced intermitted failures during the summer and upon opening school. In November, the School Board approved refurbishing chiller 1 as the first phase of a three phase approach.The second phase is to refurbish the second existing chiller. Ultimately, a third chiller is needed for the school (approximately $1 million), but this project has been deferred until the summer 2020 projects are fully funded.

The District has a current GSA piggyback contract PB #16-L-008-LU-HVAC (through June 21, 2024) with Daikin Applied Americas, Inc. which is the HVAC parts and services vendor for McQuay equipment. Daikin has provided a proposal to refurbish chiller 2 in the amount of $154,790.

The refurbishment project will be managed by the maintenance team and funded through facility renewal sales surtax contingency. The Independent Citizens Oversight Committee (ICOC) was advised of the project at their August 2019 meeting.

Board approval is required fo purchase orders over $50,000.

Approve the purchase order for Daikin Applied Americas, Inc. in the amount of $154,790 under GSA piggyback contract PB #16-L-008-LU-HVAC.
