January 14, 2020 Board Workshop and Policies Work Session

The School Board of Brevard County, Florida met for a policies work session and board workshop on  Tuesday, January 14, 2020, at the Educational Services Facility, 2700 Judge Fran Jamieson Way, Viera, Florida. Notice of the meeting was advertised in the Eagle newspaper on Thursday, December 26, 2019 and Thursday, January 2, 2020. The affidavit of publication with a copy of the ad attached is filed in the Affidavit File in the Board Office.

Sue Hann, Assistant Superintendent of Facilities Services, provided an overview of the presentation. Ms. Hann said that this has been the most successful deployment of all the governmental agencies she has worked.  She is very proud of their efforts. The ICOC has been very successful and have had eight perfect audits.  Dr. Mullins attributed this success to Ms. Hann and her team and stated that they are always looking at ways to perform better.

Ms. Hann explained the Sales Surtax renewal process which includes a performance audit.

Dr. Mullins asked for Board members to reach out to Ms. Hann in the very near future for conversation about the possibility of going out for a renewal of the sales surtax.  After those conversations, he will determine whether or not he brings forth a recommendation to the Board before April, 2020.
