This policy is being revised to clarify the definition of service animal, clarify that service animals can be removed if their behavior poses a direct threat to the health and safety of others, and specify that trainers of service animals are liable for damages, and other changes in compliance with applicable state and federal law.

These proposed revisions encompass the suggested language from NEOLA.

 

Recommendation

Board Policy 8400 Environmental Health and Safety Issues is currently being revised and will appear before the School Board on the dates indicated below:

Rule Development Workshop - 1/28/20

School Board Meeting (Information) - 1/28/20

School Board Meeting (Approval) - 2/11/20
