Palm Bay Magnet High School - Elevator Renewal - Construction Management Services - SALES SURTAX

The elevator in Building 16 at Palm Bay Magnet High School was placed in service in 1978. The location of the elevator does not meet current code for accessibility, and is not easily used by students. The project includes taking this elevator out of service and providing a new elevator in Building 11 that will better serve students, both functionally and more safely.
Canaveral Construction Co., Inc. has submitted a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) in an amount not to exceed $461,223.25 under their continuing contract for construction management services. The design was prepared by Construction Engineering Group under their continuing contract for mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection engineering services, with Tsark Architecture LLC as a primary subconsultant. Administration and permitting costs are estimated at $10,000.
The Independent Citizens Oversight Committee approved a recommended allocation of $100,000 for the Palm Bay Magnet High School elevator project from the 2014 sales surtax revenue over $198 million at their June 17, 2020 meeting. The design phase has been previously funded through sales surtax.The balance will be funded through capital.
Board approval is required for purchase orders over $50,000. The standard form of the agreement has been used which does not require legal review.
Approve the total project construction budget in the amount of $471,223.25 for the elevator renewal project at Palm Bay Magnet High School.
Approve the Guaranteed Maximum Price submitted by Canaveral Construction Co., Inc. in an amount not to exceed $461,223.25 under their continuing contract for construction management services for the elevator renewal project at Palm Bay Magnet High School.
Approve the allocation of $100,000 for the Palm Bay Magnet High School elevator renewal project from the 2014 sales surtax revenue over $198 million.
