The School Advisory Committee at Edgewood Jr./Sr. High School voted on Thursday, October 27, 2022, to request approval from the School Board to move forward with the process to gather community input into the proposal to dedicate Edgewood's Black Box Stage to Mr. Christopher J. Waterman, a dedicated theatre teacher and thespian sponsor. The vote was unanimous to move forward. Per Board Policy, the principal of Edgewood Jr./Sr. High School requested permission from the superintendent's designee, Dr. Stephanie Soliven. Secondary Leading & Learning is now requesting permission of the Board for Edgewood Jr./Sr. High School to proceed with the required process to gather input into the proposed dedication.
Proposed Procedure:

1. Community Meetings: The Director of Secondary Leading & Learning that supervises Edgewood Jr./Sr. High School shall host up to three (3) open community meetings with announced meeting dates.
2. Community Input: The Director of Secondary Leading & Learning that supervises Edgewood Jr./Sr. High School shall solicit input from eligible stakeholders using a survey. Solicited input from the following:

• • SAC of the school
  • PTA or other parent-based organization of the school
  • School students
  • Parents or legal guardians of students attending the school
  • Community members within the school's attendance zone
  • Members of the school's faculty and staff
  • Alumni of the school
  • Members of the public

3. Student engagement strategies to include age-appropriate dialogue. 
4. Government and Community Relations will assist Secondary Leading & Learning with strategies for increasing public awareness of the renaming process.

Approve Edgewood Jr./Sr. High School to proceed with the required process to gather community input into the proposal to dedicate Edgewood's Black Box Stage to Mr. Christopher J. Waterman, a dedicated theatre teacher and thespian sponsor.
