The Stone Middle School facility renewal project was completed in summer 2017, with additional work in summer 2019.

In October 2018, the District approved a design contract with TLC Engineering Solutions (TLC) under their continuing contract for structural engineering services for the renewal of corroding canopies at the school. Phase 1 construction was done in 2019 by Heard Construction, Inc. under their continuing contract for construction management services. This project was funded through capital.

Heard Construction, Inc. has submitted a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) for Phase 2 canopy renewal work at the school in an amount not to exceed $749,496.43 under their continuing contract for construction management services based on the TLC design. The project includes both extensive canopy replacement and canopy renewal (corrosion control and paint) where the underlying structure is still viable. A third phase of canopy renewal will be needed in the future, but is not as critical as the current work.

The sales surtax renewal plan includes $600,000 in year 1 for canopy renewal at Stone Middle School. The balance will be funded through capital and any funds remaining from the 2014 sales surtax budgeted for Stone Middle School. Administration and permitting costs are estimated at $8,000.

Board approval is required for purchase orders over $50,000. The standard form of the agreement has been used which does not require legal review.

Approve the total project construction budget for Phase 2 of the Stone Middle School canopy renewal project in the amount of $757,496.43.

Approve the Guaranteed Maximum Price submitted by Heard Construction, Inc. in the amount not to exceed $749,496.43 for the Stone Middle School canopy renewal project under their continuing contract for construction management services.
