The sales surtax facility renewal project at Eau Gallie High School constructed last year included replacement of two chillers, pumps and motors. The Independent Citizens Oversight Committee approved the allocation of additional 2014 sales surtax resources ($350,000) at their February 17, 2021 meeting for the additional work on the central energy plant. This allocation was subsequently approved by the School Board on March 9, 2021 and the work has been completed. Through the commissioning process, the Eau Gallie High School Facility Assessment and consultation with Plant Operations and Maintenance, additional HVAC component renewal work is recommended. The primary scope of the work includes replacing eight outside air dampers, replacing six motors and adding bipolar ionization to twenty-six air handling units The work will also improve indoor air quality and energy efficiency.

Canaveral Construction Co., Inc. has submitted a preconstruction services proposal in an amount not to exceed $517,934.51 under their continuing contract for construction management services. The proposal is based on a design prepared by DDC Engineering, Inc. under their continuing contract for mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection engineering services. Administration and permitting costs are estimated at $10,000. The project will be funded through unallocated 2014 sales surtax and/or capital specifically budgeted for HVAC projects. The Independent Citizens Oversight Committee will consider an allocation of up to $530,000 from the 2014 sales surtax over the $198 million program target at their February 16, 2022 meeting.

Board approval is required for purchase orders over $50,000. The standard form of the agreement has been used which does not require legal review. 

Approve the construction budget in the amount of $527,934.51 for the Eau Gallie High School HVAC renewal project.

Approve the Guaranteed Maximum Price submitted by Canaveral Construction Co., Inc. in an amount not to exceed $517,934.51 under their continuing contract for construction management services for the Eau Gallie High School HVAC renewal  project.

Approve the allocation of up to $530,000 of 2014 sales surtax revenue over the $198 million program target for the Eau Gallie High School HVAC renewal project.
