Mr. Susin said he wanted to give an update on a letter to FHSAA regarding waiving of fees. After making some phone calls, he is working with General Counsel Gibbs to pull some information together and will work on seeing if a resolution can be agreed to and if not, he will work on an official letter from the Board.

Mr. Susin wants to call the Supervisor of Elections if they can truly coordinate a concerted effort to  register all of our kids to vote in the next election and do it in the name of Harry T. Moore as that is what Mr. Moore did (100,000 people) and maybe there is some kind of symbolic gesture that can be done afterwards. Mr. Susin asked the Board their thoughts.  Ms. Belford commented that she thought it was a great idea, but suggested they coordinate with Dr. Soliven as she already does a good amount of work with the Supervisor of Elections.

Ms. Jenkins stated she was thinking about ways/changes that could take place to improve safety for teachers as it relates to COVID 19, especially with the recent passing of one of Brevard's teachers due to the virus.  She said that she knows the N-95 masks were ordered and available to anyone who asks for them.  She continued that staff members should not have to ask for them, they should be provided to them automatically. Dr. Mullins stated that they would do an inventory and how many of those masks are available.

Chairman Belford explained that the FSBA Day in the Legislature is going to be virtual.  She also noted that FSBA  was in the process or writing a letter to the legislature to urge them to count teachers as essential workers so they can receive the vaccine.  Ms. Campbell stated that they just received an email advising that the letter had been sent.

48. Discussion Point - FSBA Board of Directors (Belford)

Chairman Belford explained that during the organizational meeting, Katye Campbell was appointed to the FSBA Board of Directors with Jennifer Jenkins as alternate. However, the FSBA Board of Directors is a two year commitment.  Therefore Mr. Susin will remain on the Board through 2021 with Ms. Belford as the alternate.
