The Mims Elementary School Cafetorium project includes construction of a new cafeteria to increase capacity, renovation of the existing cafeteria for educational purposes and modifying the parent loop configuration for improved traffic circulation. The School Board has previously approved the project in the 5 Year Work Program and approved the design contract with BRPH Architects Engineers, Inc. (RFQ 21-63-A-DR).

Based on the design, the District issued a Request for Qualifications for construction management services for the project (RFQ 22-176-Q-DR). Five firms were shortlisted, interviewed and ranked as follows:

1. Wharton Smith, Inc.
2. Canaveral Construction Co., Inc.
3. Heard Construction, Inc. 
4. Hedrick Brothers Construction Co., Inc.
5. WELBRO Building Corp

The Selection Committee recommends that the Board award the construction management contract (RFQ 22-176-Q-DR) to Wharton Smith, Inc. as the top-ranked firm.

The requested action is to approve the recommended award and enter into a contract. Future Board actions will consider preconstruction services and construction services. The project is funded through capital.

The standard form of the agreement has been used which does not require legal review.
