Intercom renewal projects are planned District-wide as part of the 2020 sales surtax renewal program. The project at Gardendale Alternative Learning Center has been designed by TLC  Engineering Solutions under their continuing contract for mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection engineering services.

Wharton Smith, Inc. has submitted a Guaranteed Maximum Price in an amount not to exceed $233,157 for the intercom renewal project at Gardendale Alternative LearningCenter under their continuing contract for construction management services. This project is combined with intercom renewal projects at Clearlake Education Center and Williams Elementary School to achieve economy of scale and reduce the construction management fee. Administration and permitting costs are estimated at $10,000.

The project is funded through budgeted 2020 sales surtax and reallocated unused 2020 sales surtax budgeted for intercom projects. The Independent Citizens Oversight Committee recommended reallocating unused budgeted 2020 sales surtax funds for intercom projects at its October 20, 2021 meeting. 

Board approval is required for purchase orders over $50,000. The standard form of the agreement has been used which does not require legal review. 

Approve the total project construction budget for the intercom renewal project at Gardendale Alternative Learning Center in the amount of $243,157 . 

Approve the Guaranteed Maximum Price submitted by Wharton Smith, Inc. in an amount not to exceed $233,157 for the intercom renewal projects at Gardendale Alternative Learning Center under their continuing contract for construction management services.

Approve the allocation of unused budgeted 2020 sales surtax funds for intercom projects to the Gardendale intercom projects ($178,437).
