Dr. Rendell introduced John Hopengarten, ICOC Chair.  Mr. Hopengarten shared a presentation on the Sales Surtax Independent Citizens Oversight Committee – Annual Report. 

The Board thanked Mr. Hopengarten for his presentation and all the work of the committee. Comment

Ms. Wright brought forth a motion to split Agenda items for public speaking and Non-Agenda items.

 

Chairperson Wright spoke of the changes in the format of how public speaking will be handled moving forward.  Mr. Gibbs invited speakers to the podium, and in accordance with Florida Law, stated the Board would hear 41 speaker.  Ms. Wright reminded speakers of their time limit of three minutes and of the decorum expected while speaking.

 

Ms. Wright and Mr. Gibbs went through the public speaking forms.  The ones that were marked "general or library book" were asked if they would be speaking on the agenda item H62. Book Challenge & Review - "Sold"

Katye Campbell recommended that if the public has an issue with a book, that you submit a formal book challenge form. If anyone wishes to contact her, please send an email, or contact her by phone.  

 

Ms. Jenkins expressed her concerns with the Board members and their decorum on the dais.

 

Ms. Wright spoke on the policy for book review and the process.

The Board voted to move non agenda item public speaking to the end of the agenda.  The public who signed up to speak was given the opportunity to speak to on non-agenda items.
