The softball field at Melbourne High School does not drain and is one of the priority projects identified in the FY 21-22 capital plan and the proposed FY 22-23 capital plan to address softball and baseball field drainage issues.

The Board approved a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) submitted by Ivey's Construction, Inc., in June 2022 in an amount not to exceed $99,661.60 for an early works project that removes accumulated material from the retention pond, cleans all of the pipes and evaluates whether any pipes or drainage structures are broken or not in service. This project is under construction.

Ivey's Construction, Inc. has submitted a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) for the drainage improvements and softball field renewal at Melbourne High School in an amount not to exceed $459,265 based on a design by Gales Associates, Inc. under their continuing contract for civil engineering services. The project includes an additive alternate in the amount of $91,468 to relocate the backstop to allow for future seating at the softball field. Although this is not directly related to the drainage project, it is more cost effective to make this change while the field is being reconstructed.  Administration and permitting costs have been previously budgeted.

The project is funded through FY 21-22 capital and proposed FY 22-23 capital.

Board approval is required for purchase orders over $50,000. The standard form of the agreement has been used which does not require legal review.

Approve the total project construction budget in the amount of $459,265 for the Melbourne High School softball field drainage project.
