Interlocal Agreement Cares Act Funding

Congress and the President signed the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) on March 27, 2020 that appropriated CARES Act funding to local governments with populations over 500,000 for: 

    1. Expenditures that are necessary due to the public health emergency with respect to the COVID-19.
    2. Expenditures that were not accounted for in the budget most recently approved as of March 27, 2020.
    3. Expenditures that were or will be incurred during the period that begins on March 1, 2020 and ends on December 30, 2020.


The County recognizes that the School Board will incur many of the same costs and needs the County will incur in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic and wishes to provide assistance to the School Board, in compliance with the CARES Act (including Guidance issued by the U.S. Department of Treasury) and as otherwise authorized by the Board of County Commissioners,


The County and the School Board covenant agree that they have full power and authority to enter into this Agreement and bind their respective governmental entities. This Agreement shall be considered an Interlocal Agreement pursuant to the authority of Florida Statutes, Chapter 163, Part 1, 2020.


Approve the Interlocal Agreement between the Brevard County Board of County Commissioners of Brevard County, Florida and the School Board of Brevard County, FL regarding CARES Act funding.
