The 2014 sales surtax plan included facility renewal at Central Transportation (SR 520).  The School Board approved a Guaranteed Maximum Price in an amount not to exceed $578,583 submitted by Wharton Smith, Inc. under their continuing contract for construction management services at their November 2020 meeting. This project addressed the air conditioning and electrical renewal needs at the facility.  The facility assessment also identified significant deficiencies in the roof and exterior walls of Building 2.  Design for the roof and exterior wall renewal as been completed by Gale and Associates, Inc. under their continuing contract for roof and building envelope engineering services. The scope of work includes removing and replacing the existing metal roof panels, ridge vents, downspouts and gutters; repairing and painting the exterior wall panels and modifying site drainage.                                                                                                      

Wharton Smith, Inc. (Wharton) has submitted a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) in an amount not to exceed $722,246 under their continuing contract for construction management services. Approximately $370,000 remains available from the 2014 sales surtax program already budgeted for Central Transportation. The balance will be funded through capital or an allocation of 2014 sales surtax revenue over the $198 million program target. The Independent Citizens Oversight Committee will be considering this allocation at their August 18, 2021 meeting.  Administration and permitting costs are estimated at $10,000.

Board approval is required for purchase orders over $50,000. The standard agreement template has been used, which does not require legal review.

Approve the total project construction budget in the amount of $732,246 for the roof and exterior wall renewal project at the Central Transportation facility.

Approve the Guaranteed Maximum Price submitted by Wharton in an amount not to exceed $722,246 for construction management services for the roof and exterior wall renewal project at the Central Transportation facility.

Approve the allocation of up to $365,000 in sales surtax revenue over $198 million for the project, subject to ICOC recommendation (pending August 18, 2021).
