Satellite High School's Chamber Orchestra, approximately 26 students accompanied by two BPS employees and six male and female registered volunteers, are requesting approval to travel to Atlanta, Georgia, participate in the ASTA National Orchestra Festival and visit local attractions on March 16-19, 2022. This is a prestigious performance opportunity. Bus transportation will be provided through a board-approved vendor at an approximate cost of $6000.00. Accommodations will be reserved at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta in Atlanta, GA. Participant cost will be $1000.00. This fee covers the festival registration fee, hotel accommodations for three nights, meals for four days, transportation, concert tickets, a group dinner and tickets for local attractions. Student fundraising will cover the costs. Activities to cover costs will be arranged by the Satellite Band Boosters with corporate sponsorships, a fall magazine fundraiser,and a spring fundraiser through the American Muscle Museum. Students will not miss any school time as the trip will occur during spring break. THERE WILL BE NO COST TO THE DISTRICT. 

Recommendation

Approve the request of the Satellite High School Chamber Orchestra, approximately 26 students accompanied by two BPS employees and six male and female registered volunteers, to travel to Atlanta, Georgia to participate in the ASTA National Orchestra Festival and tour local attractions on March 16-19, 2022.
