| Discussion The purpose of the proposed revisions to the policy is to ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state laws, Florida State Board of Education Rules, Board policies, administrative rules, procedures, and guidelines. In addition, the proposed revisions promote transparency and accountability, as well as adding a requirement for the superintendent to bring recommendations for termination to the Board in the cases of positive findings of controlled substances or alcohol. This policy is being revised to enhance and clarify the definition for schedule 1 substance “cannabis.” In addition, it warns employees of the potential for incidental canine detection of drugs and the opportunity to self-report substance abuse problems prior to incidents requiring drug/alcohol testing. These proposed revisions encompass the suggested language from NEOLA. | ||||||||||||||||||
