The intent of the IDEA Part B, K-12 Entitlement Grant is to ensure that all students with disabilities (SWD), ages 3-21, have the right to a free appropriate public education designed to meet their individual needs and prepare them for employment and independent living.​ Funds shall be used to supplement, not supplant, the excess costs of providing special education and related services.​ The primary initiatives of the IDEA Part B, K-12 Entitlement Grant include staffing allocations and fringe, sub-agreements, furniture, fixtures, and equipment, supplies, and technology.

Recommendation

Approve the 2023-2024 IDEA Part B, K-12 Entitlement Project Application with a total funding of $23,137,024. Preliminary entitlement allocation is $18,137,024 with an estimated roll forward of $5,000,000.
