A classroom addition project is planned at West Melbourne School for Science that will utilize the area where four non-classroom portables are located. Recycle Brevard is using one of the portables (through November 2023) through a Facilities Use Agreement and the others are used for storage/offices. These portables are designated as "storage" because they are not suitable for classroom use. Portables N065, N167, N916 and LL01 were constructed between 1961 and 1965 are are uneconomical to repair or move. 

Due to the age and state of disrepair of the units, demolition of these portables is recommended.

Demolition will be handled by Plant Operations & Maintenance. The cost for disposal at the land fill is approximately $6,000 which will be funded through the Plant Operations & Maintenance budget.

In addition, one dilapidated wooden shed is located along the east edge of the campus parking lot. The shed is not used by the school and will also be removed.  

The shed is not included in the Florida Inventory of School Houses (FISH) data base for Brevard Public Schools.

DCR and approve demolition of storage portables N065, N167, N916, and LL01 at West Melbourne School for Science.

Approve the demolition of the wooden shed located east of the parking lot at West Melbourne School for Science.
