Action - 08/11/2020
At the July 14, 2020 School Board meeting, the Board approved the District Reopening Plan 2020-2021 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. At the July 30, 2020 School Board meeting, the Board approved an amendment to the language contained in the plan as stated below:
Approve the amendment of the language in the Reopening Schools 2020-2021 Plan approved at the July 14, 2020 School Board meeting revising the language from “When social distancing cannot be adhered to, it is expected that students and staff wear a face covering. The student dress code applies to face coverings and only the nose and mouth should be covered, not the full face,” to “When social distancing cannot be adhered to, it is required that students, staff, visitors, and vendors wear a face covering with certain approved exceptions.” The student dress code applies to face coverings and only the nose and mouth should be covered, not the full face. This requirement should be implemented into the Student Codes of Conduct and into the Board Polices through emergency rule-making procedures to meet the start of school followed by standard rule-making implementation.
The reopening plan document has been revised to reflect the requirement for face covering language and is being brought back to the Board for its approval following the adoption of the emergency rule policy regarding face coverings.
Approve the amendment to the District Reopening Plan 2020-2021 requiring face coverings with certain approved exceptions as referenced in the emergency rule policy.
