Adult Education and Family Literacy – Integrated English Literacy and Civics Education (IELCE) Grant for 2020-2021
Information - 08/11/2020
This one-year extension period is in response to the difficult and unique circumstances related to COVID-19 and the potential for broad impact on both State administrators of AEFLA programs and services delivery by local eligible providers.
The Integrated English Literacy and Civics Education provides English language learners who are adults, including professionals with degrees and credentials earned in their native countries, that enables such adults to achieve competency in the English language and acquire the basic and more advanced skills needed to function effectively as parents, workers and citizens in the United States. Awardees will prepare adults who are English Language Learners (ELL) for, and place such adults in, unsubsidized employment in in-demand industries and occupations that lead to economic self-sufficiency; and integrate with the local workforce development system and its functions to carry out the activities of the program.
The Superintendent signed the 100A Project Application for approval for submission of the grant on Friday, August 7, 2020 to meet the Florida Department of Education deadline.
