Due to the current Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, which has caused many declarations by the Governor and health organizations, the Superintendent finds that there is an imminent danger and a need to protect public health, safety and/or welfare for the reasons as stated during the Board workshop held on July 30, 2020.

 

The emergency policy is in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and for any future emergencies.  During declared emergencies involving the public spread of contagious or infectious diseases, the School Board designates to the Superintendent the authority to implement required face coverings consistent with the policy. The policy governs the conduct of staff, students, visitors and vendors in district facilities during declared emergencies involving the public spread of contagious or infectious diseases.   

Recommendation

Approve the recommended emergency policy authorizing the Superintendent to require face coverings consistent with the policy effective August 11, 2020 to remain in effect for 90 days unless extended pursuant to Section 120.54(4) Florida Statutes.
