The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has right-of-way directly adjacent to the north of the Mims Elementary School property.  This right-of-way includes a swale used for drainage.  In 1992, a project at Mims Elementary School permitted the provision of stormwater structures.  Most of the stormwater system is within the Mims Elementary School property, with the exception of a control structure that is located within the FDOT right-of-way.  A page from the approved plans is attached that shows the stormwater structures and the property boundaries. 

Currently, the FDOT is clearing the right-of-way and found the control structure that belongs the school district.  FDOT would like to replace the structure and relocate it on school board property.  There is no cost to the school district for this project.  This temporary construction easement will allow the FDOT contractors the ability to complete the project on school board property.

 

Recommendation

Approve the temporary construction easement at Mims Elementary School for replacement and relocation of the stormwater control structure.
