The School Board of Brevard County, Florida owns a 60 feet wide parcel of land adjacent to the eastern property line of the McLarty Stadium property, containing approximately 1.06 acres of overgrown and wooden land. Pursuant to Florida Statutes, District real property may be disposed of only after having been recommended in an educational plant survey and being officially declared unnecessary or unsuitable for educational or ancillary purposes by resolutin of the Board.  

The District's current Educational Plant Five Year Survey (5-Version 2, report, which was approved by the School Board of Brevard County on July 13, 2021) recommends the current use of the McLarty Stadium property. The 60 feet wide parcel is a separate tax account parcel and will not affect the use of McLarty Stadium. The City of Rockledge has expressed an interest in the strip of land.

The Resolution is the means by which the School Board formally declares the 60 feet wide parcel adjacent to the McLarty Stadium property as unnecessary and unsuitable for educational or ancillary purposes and is not intended to change the purpose or use of the McLarty Stadium property in the Florida Inventory of School Houses (FISH). Approval of the Resolution also authorizes the Superintendent to convey the parcel to the City of Rockledge in accordance with the provisions of 1013.28 F.S.
