Replacement of pumps and motors at the Eau Gallie High School central energy plant is included in year 1 of the sales surtax renewal plan (with 2014 sales surtax funding). Based on equipment condition and ongoing operational issues, the team also recommends replacement of two chillers. 

The School Board previously approved the Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) for preconstruction services submitted by Canaveral Construction Co., Inc. under their continuing contract for construction management services in an amount not to exceed $386,170.24. This GMP included procurement of the chillers due to lengthy lead times on mechanical equipment. Canaveral Construction Co., Inc. has submitted GMP #2 for the balance of the project in an amount not to exceed $405,680.77 under their continuing contract for construction management services based on a design prepared by DDC Engineering, Inc. under their continuing contract for mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection engineering services. Administration and permitting costs were previously budgeted.

The sales surtax renewal program includes $300,000 from the 2014 sales surtax for replacement of pumps and motors. Supplemental sales surtax funding ($350,000) for this project was approved by the Independent Citizens Oversight Committee (ICOC) at its February 17, 2021 meeting and approved by the School Board at its March 9, 2021 meeting. Additional supplemental sales surtax funding (2014) will be considered at the ICOC's April 21, 2021 meeting. The project can be funded through sales surtax or capital.

Board approval is required for purchase orders over $50,000. The standard form of the agreement has been used which does not require legal review.
