The locker room air conditioning project at Eau Gallie High School was included in the FY 20-21 capital plan. The project was designed in 2019 by Construction Engineering Group, Inc. as part of the Eau Gallie High School facility renewal project.

The Board previously approved the Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) submitted by Heard Construction, Inc. in an amount not to exceed $418,686.18 under their continuing contract for construction management services for the locker room air conditioning project. During construction, several issues were discovered that had to be addressed as part of the project. These issues (plumbing, electrical and chilled water piping) were not included in the original design/scope of work, necessitating three proposed change orders, totaling $112,435.18 which were approved by the Board on February 23, 2021.

At the end of the project, District staff and the school administration requested a change order to paint the locker rooms as this was not included in the scope of the project. Heard submitted change order #4 to paint the locker rooms in the amount of $24,500. The project will be funded through capital.

Board approval is required for change orders over $50,000 or over 10% (cumulative) of the contract value. The standard template has been used, which does not require legal review.
