In August 2022, Mr. Heid, the retired basketball coach at Stone Middle School, requested the gym at Stone Middle School be dedicated to Ms. Ruby Mae Jackson, a longtime volunteer with the basketball teams at Stone Middle School.  On August 16, 2022, the SAC committee voted to request permission from the board to collect community input on the request.  On February 7, 2023 the School Board voted to allow the school to follow the administrative procedures in Board Policy 7250 – Commemoration of School Facilities, and collect community input into the request.

In an effort to gather input from all stakeholders, a website was created allowing stakeholders to both submit comments and review all comments submitted.  Additionally, two community meetings were held to gather input. As of 3/28/2023, there have been 98 responses: 96 responses were in favor of the dedication, two (2) responses were against the dedication. (Stakeholder Comments link:)

The first meeting was held on February 23, 2023 beginning at 5:30pm in the Media Center of Stone Middle School.  Eighteen (18) individuals were present at the meeting and nine (9) spoke during the meeting.  Of the nine (9) individuals who spoke, all were in support of the dedication.  (Minutes Link:)
