The School Advisory Committee at Edgewood Junior/Senior High School voted on Thursday, October 27, 2022, to request approval from the School Board to move forward with the process to gather community input into the proposal to dedicate the Edgewood Black Box Stage to Mr. Christopher Wate1111an. In January both the Edgewood SAC Committee and PTO Committee both voted to allow the school to follow the administrative procedures in Board Policy 7250-Commemoration of School Facilities, and collect community input into the request.

In an effort to gather input from all stakeholders, a website was created allowing stakeholders to both submit comments and review all comments submitted. Additionally, two community meetings were held to gather input. As of 4/4/2023, there have been 21 responses: all responses were in favor of the dedication. Two meetings were held on March 23, 2023. The Edgewood SAC meeting began at 5:00pm in the Media Center. Nine (9) individuals were present at the meeting, no one spoke but all signed in favor of the name dedication. (Agenda and signatures attached to email.)
