The sales surtax renewal program allocates $300,000 from 2014 sales surtax for replacement of pumps and motors. Based on equipment condition and ongoing operational issues, the team also recommends replacement of two chillers. The total estimated project cost is $650,000. The Independent Citizens Oversight Committee approved the allocation of additional 2014 sales surtax resources ($350,000) at their February 17, 2021 meeting. This allocation was subsequently approved by the School Board on March 9, 2021. 

Canaveral Construction Co., Inc. has submitted a preconstruction services proposal in an amount not to exceed $386,170.24 under their continuing contract for construction management services. The proposal is based on a design prepared by DDC Engineering, Inc. under their continuing contract for mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection engineering services. Administration and permitting costs are estimated at $15,000.

Preconstruction services include design, subcontractor bidding, development of the Guaranteed Maximum Price and the early works procurement of the chillers due to lengthy lead times on mechanical equipment.  

Board approval is required for purchase orders over $50,000. The standard form of the agreement has been used which does not require legal review. 

Approve the preconstruction services budget in the amount of $401,170.24 for the Eau Gallie High School central energy plant renewal project.
