Discussion Upgrading the air conditioning systems at the Meadowlanes and Central Middle School has been an ongoing program of work since 2017. Major components have been the construction of an additional central energy plant to serve Central Middle School (2020) and provide redundancy for the central energy plant serving the Meadowlanes. Air handling equipment, controls, pumps, condensing water piping and other HVAC components were replaced as needed at both schools in 2020. Cooling towers at the Meadowlanes' central energy plant were replaced in 2021. One of the two chillers at the Meadowlanes' central energy plant had a factory repair in 2017 and both chillers had a factory overhaul in 2019-2020. The chillers are reaching the end of their useful life and continue to be somewhat unreliable. The underground chilled water piping is leaking and will be replaced with this project. The project will be phased over two summers due to the long lead time for manufacture and delivery of new chillers. Ivey's Construction, Inc. has submitted a Guaranteed Maximum Price in an amount not to exceed $1,891,295.08 for the chiller replacement project at the Meadowlanes under their continuing contract for construction management services based on a design by DDC Engineering, Inc. under their continuing contract for mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection engineering services. Administration and permitting expenses have been previously budgeted. The project is funded through facility renewal capital and capital specifically designated for HVAC projects. Board approval of purchase orders over $50,000 is required. The standard form of the agreement has been used which does not require legal review. | ||||||||||||||||||
